LOG:05 – 010

I know this one is a bit late. I moved to a new city so things have been a bit crazy on my end. Hopefully, now that the move is over, things will settle down a bit. With the next page we’ll be returning to the regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday updates. That won’t be this week, but next week.

In retrospect I should add another panel to the top row to drive home the flashes of light glaring in through the window/screen. Not sure how well that comes across in these pages. Something for future revisions.

No news this week. Going to try and knock out some overdue commissions this week so I can maybe start accepting commissions again in the next couple of weeks. No promises on that last part, though. If I do start taking commissions again I’ll probably have to raise prices. Breaking my back and spending all my time to just barely break even is no fun.

I’ll need to get a new headset, too. My old one broke and now I have no mic for streaming which is one of the reasons I haven’t been doing that as much.

Not much news this week. Things are still pretty much the scene. Last time, when I said things were calming down I meant to say I’d found some work to cover the lost clients, and that’s still true. But the work itself is keeping me busy. So much so that I only just finished this page today.

I’m not entirely happy with the high-speed lift’s sound effect on this page. I might want to come back to this page sometime in the future and work it into the page in a more satisfying way. Maybe work it into the background of the central panel somehow.

After sleeping on it, the revised version came right to me. Knocked it out in only a few minutes. Much happier with it.

Cutting it very close this week. Sorry about that. Because I had some clients bail at the last minute on projects I was supposed to start last month, I was left scrambling for work, and that threw all my plans right out the window. Things should be calming down a little now, at least for the next month or two. After that…we’ll have to see.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the page and I look forward to bringing you the next update in two weeks!

The job hunt continues. First job I interviewed for I did not get, but they may call me back in October. I applied to a couple other jobs and I’ve been trying to beef up my portfolio with graphic design and motion graphics in mind. In the meantime, I did have some good news. I managed to pick up another freelance job that should carry me through to October, so hopefully the late night panic attacks will take a bit of a break I should also be able to focus on some commissions that are still unfinished.

For the time being, the Sprawl will continue at this bi-weekly pace, but once I manage to get steady work and get my current freelance and commission work out of the way, I should be able to give it more of my time and focus again. I’ve been building up to this chapter since I outlined it in 2013, I’m really excited to share the story’s conclusion with you guys and any delay is agonizing.

Anyway, that’s all the news for now. See you in two weeks!

Not much in the way of news this week. Apartment hunting and looking for a steady, regular job. Constantly hustling for freelance has gotten to be more stress than it’s worth. I haven’t been posting as much to Twitter lately, sorry about that, just spread real thin right now.

In lighter news, the new DOOM game looks amazing. Really looking forward to that.

Alright, let’s just rip the band-aid off. “The Sprawl” is going bi-weekly. If you’ve been reading these news updates or pledging via Patreon you know I’ve been having a rough time due to health and financial issues. Right now I just can’t keep up with Sprawl updates. Rather than trying and failing to keep up and burning out, I’m just going to slow things down a bit to where I can keep on top of things and still manage a regular update schedule.

Once my health and money are both back to a more comfortable level I’ll start weekly updates again. While you guys can’t do much about my health, you can help with the financial side of things by pledging as little as $1 a month via Patreon:

Or purchasing a ComiXology edition of LOG:01

Bit of an update with me. I’ve been sharing some of this with my Patreon supporters but figured I should share a bit here, too. I’ve been having some health issues as of late and it’s been killing my productivity. On top of that, Patreon support has remained stuck below $50 a month for some time now.

I’m not sure how this will impact The Sprawl going forward, but I wanted to give people a heads up, so if in a month or so I make an announcement it’s not entirely out of the blue.

Thanks for reading and enjoying The Sprawl, and it will definitely continue until I complete the story I set out to tell. We’re way too far into this to stop now.

If you want to help out, you can support me on Patreon for as little as $1 a month.

Also, the first chapter of The Sprawl is currently available on ComiXology in high-res and featuring their “Guided View” mode which turns the experience into something like a motion comic. Definitely a blast. It’s only $3.99 for a 60 page comic. If you purchase it, be sure to leave a review!
